Our system has been in place in excess of 100 years. The choice option has been there and it’s worked well. We’ve built our infrastructure around that. We’ve built neighbourhoods around that type of school system. We would use the notwithstanding clause on an ongoing basis to ensure that those choices remained.
Open Catholic Education Initiative
The Open Catholic Education Initiative is sponsored by the Saskatchewan Catholic School Boards Association and supported by eight Catholic school divisions across Saskatchewan. Together, these organizations create caring and supportive learning environments for more than 40,000 children throughout the province. The initiative is dedicated to providing high-quality education rooted in Catholic values and community spirit.

Catholic schools involved in the initiative focus on academic excellence, personal growth, and student well-being. Teachers and staff work closely with students to encourage confidence, responsibility, and respect for others. Every child is supported in a positive and welcoming atmosphere.

Students are encouraged to develop strong moral values while preparing for future educational and personal success. Compassion, inclusion, and community involvement are important parts of everyday school life.

The Open Catholic Education Initiative helps strengthen connections between schools, families, and local communities. Through cooperation and shared goals, the program supports the development of future generations. Together, these schools create opportunities for meaningful learning and lifelong growth.
